I was on my way to a meeting tonight when some dumb girl decided to turn left RIGHT in front of me! I was already in the intersection and she gunned it - I seriously cannot imagine why the heck she would have pulled out like that, but she sure did. I honked like crazy, slammed on my brakes harder than I ever have in my whole life, and did my best to try to swerve out of the way {I didn't really have anywhere to go except into on-coming traffic}, but we hit anyway. I was driving Bill's car and it definitely got off easier than hers did. She was going so fast that hitting me spun her in a complete circle and her car wasn't drivable.
Let me pause right here and say that I'm not hurt.
My back is sore and my left elbow and wrist are bothering me from bracing myself, I think. I'm pretty sure that this wreck could have been much worse, so I'm just glad that my wrist, elbow, and back are the only things bothering me.
Bill's passenger front end is clearly jacked. He said that if we had hit more centered on my front end that my airbag would have gone off. I'm glad that didn't happen. The driver's side seatbelt also won't retract. It locked up to protect me and I guess got stuck. Thank goodness for seatbelts!
The dumb girl wasn't hurt either. But as I mentioned, her car wasn't drivable. Dumb girl.
I was really amazed because 4 people stopped as witnesses. Our cars ended up on opposite sides of the intersection, so 3 were over on dumb girl's side of the road and one stayed with me. He said that he saw that I had a green and that her light was red. I'm not sure that her light was red, but I KNOW mine was green and I had the right of way. According to the officer, the other 3 witnesses pretty much said the same thing. So, it seems I have 4 witnesses that can back me up. It's nice to see that people are still good sometimes.
Bill and the kids came to rescue me, of course. When they were on their way Macy said to Bill, "I don't care if the car is broken, I just want Mommy to be okay." Is she precious or what? And Carly must have asked me 20 times, "You otay, Mama?" I hate that their little hearts were worried.
So. I never did make it to my meeting. And this isn't exactly the early 40th birthday present that I had in mind for Bill.
But. I'm sure glad to be okay. It was a weird feeling...knowing that I was about to have a near head-on collision. A powerless, scary, adrenaline pumping, life flashing, weird feeling. I'm so thankful that it didn't turn out as bad as it could have.
Dumb,
dumb
girl.

So glad you're okay!
Poor sweet lil girls so worried about their momma. Bet the big boy was pretty worried too...
I am so glad you weren't seriously injured, but be sure to have the rest checked out just in case.
Glad there were folks that stopped to relay the story to the police. That should help. Makes a person glad there are still some good folks out there...at least in TX!
Take care of yourself!
Oh. My. Goodness.
SO glad you are okay. And I love the girls' concern for you. Such sweeties.
I agree. D-U-M-B girl.
So glad you are okay; how scary! And your sweet little ones! Don't you just love how much they love you?
I have to tell you, after you clarified that you are okay, you had me giggling with the "dumb girl" comments! Clearly, she isn't too bright and should probably be not be driving.
