365:Day 242 ~ Ms. P Likes...

...patches...and pumpkins...and peach pie...and piggies...and...

PIZZA!

I got to help Carly's class make perfect little preschool-size pizzas this morning for snack! Carly's class is learning their letters through a phonics program called "The Letter People". Ms. P is this week's class mascot! The kiddos made a patchwork quilt on Monday and had pizza for their snack today! Learning about the letter P can be so much fun! :)

365:Day 241 ~ Today

I chopped 150 pieces of colored construction paper for a 1st grade project today. What'd you do?

Oh, and I get to go and di-cut said construction paper tomorrow...and possibly Friday. Do I live on the edge or what?!?! Try not to be jealous.

365:Day 240 ~ Sweet Sisters have an after School Snack and watch a Show!

See?

Every afternoon my two favorite girls unwind with a little after school snack and a show. They've done this for as long as I can remember ... even when it was an "after nap snack", not an "after school snack"! And then right after unwinding, it's time to start homework!!!

365:Day 239 ~ The Royal Treatment!

Our biggest girl got the royal treatment this afternoon at one of her little friend's spa birthday party! This stylin' up-do {to include GLITTER} was just one part of her glorious afternoon! Pretty stinkin' cute, I have to say!

365:Day 238 ~ I'm Taking a Poll.

So. My sweet friend, Paige, gave me the most adorable barrettes for my birthday this year. {We celebrated our bdays together in August last month when I went down there for the weekend.} Well, tonight I decided that I would try a barrette out for dinner at my parent's house…and I thought it looked pretty cute…a little trendy even.

Um.

My husband doesn’t like my hair like this.
My mom wasn’t a huge fan {she likes me better with full 70s bangs…seriously}.

What I tried to explain to my hubs is that I’m not going to suddenly start wearing my hair like this every day – just occasionally, you know when I feel like it. He just said that he’s not to sure about it and that he wanted to be honest with me. Whatev.

What’s your opinion, please?

Cute or not?
Should I wear a barrette again or absolutely not?
Does it make me look a little cute and trendyish or old?

Help.

365:Day 237 ~ Daisies Have Attitude!

Macy is joining Daisies this year! She’s in a cute little troop with 11 other girls…most of which she knows really well! Today, I headed to the Girl Scout store with several other moms to get the supplies that our little Daisy needs – a cute tshirt {of course}, a “vest”, the patches and pins, and a notebook! Macy was literally giddy when she saw all of this stuff! The troop will meet once a month and has the first meeting in a few weeks! I think it’s going to be a fun and educational experience for her! :)

365:Day 236 ~ So Proud...

...of this girl.
Details to come on our family blog! :) All I'll say for now is that Macy is really "hooked" on first grade!

365:Day 235 ~ whoa.

My child brought home a textbook today as part of her home work. A textbook. Does that see a little bit grown-up to anyone or is it just me?

365:Day 234 ~ Scholastic

I'm volunteering a lot this year for both Macy and Carly's schools. One of my duties is that I am the "book order mom" for Macy's teacher. Kinda takes me back to the days when I had a classroom of my own. There's something exciting about book orders ... probably because I'm a children's book junkie! :) I spent a little time getting the orders organized tonight and once I get the go ahead from the teacher it will be a go! Don't you just love book orders?!?!

365:Day 233 ~ Um. Seriously?

It's raining AHgain.

It rained for NINE DAYS straight. Then we had a 2.5 day break. And now this. It's raining again. After only 2.5 days of sunshine. I'm over the rain. Blah.

365:Day 232 ~ Delivery or Digiorno?

365:Day 231 ~ 9:37pm...

...is the time that all the party favors were done, the cake was made, and everything was prepared for tomorrow big 7 year old birthday party. 9:37pm. I've never - let me repeat - NEVER been done this early. Not once. Ever. This has got to be some kind of record for me or something. :)

And if you think that these party favors are cute...just wait until you see the cake! I'm off to enjoy my early finish...

365:Day 230 ~ See This?

This is our unused free admission ticket to the Plano Balloon Festival ... the 30th Birthday of the Balloon Festival to be exact. We had plans to go to the Balloon Festival with the Bryces and the Scheers tonight. Unfortunately, the Scheers had a last minute soccer practice {a make-up from all the rain in the last week}. So, we planned to head to the festival with the Bryce fam.

But.

It was raining. Again. Just like it has been for the PAST WEEK STRAIGHT! Even when it started to let up, we decided that it would be too stinkin' wet and muddy for us to really enjoy it! BUMMER! All 8 of us were really looking forward to it. And even though the festival is still going tomorrow and Sunday, tonight was our only opportunity to go this weekend.

But.

We sure did make the most of it! Had ourselves a yummy din-din...the kids made a total mess and had a complete blast, while us grown-ups chatted and laughed and chatted and laughed! OH...and we had a little birthday cake! :)

We'll just have to make it to the 31st Balloon Festival next year!

365:Day 229 ~ Siete

Today our big girl turned SEVEN! Macy Gwynne had a really great day from start to finish! And I'm thrilled that she enjoyed her day ... I'm just left wondering how in the world seven years has passed to quickly?!?!

Happy Birthday, Goose!
We love you more than you know!

365:Day 228 ~ GNO and/or BUNCO!

Tonight was girl's night out ... which used to be bunco, but we haven't actually played in years, so now it's just girl's night out. And may I just say that I love these girls. I love that we do this once a month. I love the junk food we eat and pretend that it's low-cal and low-fat. And. I love sangria. 'Nuff said. :)

365:Day 227 ~ Let's Get Organized!

So. I've been known to over-extend myself. You know, take on more than I can really handle. I might be doing that again this school year. And it might require me to get a calendar to put in my purse to help keep myself organized. Maybe. Ahem.

Today I found this super duper thin, light weight calendar at Office Max. It will slide easily into my purse, but won't weight it down! And the extra added bonus...it's covered with a plastic sleeve, which of course meant that I could slide in some pictures of my favorite peeps! Now it's organized AND cute!!! :) Here's to keeping all of my meetings straight! CHEERS!

365:Day 226 ~ Seasons Change...

I'm in the mood for fall. The weather has been a little fallish for the past few days and I am loving every minute!

Anywhoo...today after a yummy Corner Bakery lunch with Katie, I quickly swung by Bath & Body Works because we were in desperate need of hand soap. 3 for $10 and I got all of the fall scents ... Spiced Cider, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, and Leaves. The are all very fallish and very delicious! Yes dear bloggie friends, I'm in the mood for fall! :)

365:Day 225 ~ Can You Keep a Secret?

Look where I went today to get our almost 7 year old a few birthday presents! :) I can't wait to see the look on Macy's face when she opens her "Just Like Me" doll! She is going to be THArilled!!! Man, that store is a ton of fun!

365:Day 224 ~ A Rainy Saturday...

The girlies and I spent this very rainy Saturday in our jammies ... playing with Play-Doh ... and watching So You Think You Can Dance! Ahhhh.....perfection!

365:Day 223 ~ I Have a Confession...

So I finished this book today.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, I have to say. It took me a couple chapters to get into it ... to understand what all the hype was about ... but once I did, I was hooked! I've been faithfully reading it in carpool every day. It's an easy, mindless, funny, quick read - and I can't wait to start Shopaholic Takes Manhattan! I must go to the book store this weekend. Otherwise, how will I occupy my time in carpool? :)

365:Day 222 ~ Letter of the Week Last 3 Weeks...

Carly and I have really been working on her letters since the end of summer. And ever since school started - 3 weeks ago - I have desperately been trying to teach her the letter R, but some reason she just cannot remember what it is! Magnet letters, writing it on her doodle pad and pieces of paper, coloring R pictures, etc. and she still can't remember what it's called! OOF! So, I'm pulling out all the stops...starting with the foam letter R in the tub tonight! We will get R under our belt so we can move onto another letter!!! Maybe R will just be the letter of the MONTH! :)

365:Day 221 ~ A Surprise for My Favorite Guy!

So, if you’re a reader of our family blog, you know that Bill and I play a TON of Gin Rummy while we were on vacation this year. We’re a bit addicted actually. We’ve been playing several times a week ever since we got home…which was two months ago!

Last week, I decided to surprise Bill and order a deck of photo playing cards from Shutterfly with a picture of our trip on them. They arrived today and are they ever adorable…AND Bill was surprised! YES!

Now, maybe they will bring me a little luck. Because I’ve been loosing almost consistently for the last MONTH! :) I’ll let you know how I do…

365:Day 219 ~ Macy G. is on a Roll!

Last week marked the beginning of a new chore chart for Macy, to include MORE allowance! She has the same chores {although some of the criteria has changed}, but will now be earning 10 cents per chore for a total of $3.50 per week ... if she completes all 5 of her chores each day!

Anyway, Macy has been doing a fantastic job of getting her chores done! She got each and every single one last week and earned her full $3.50! And she did all of them again today too! She's on a roll! :)

Every night right before bed, we fill out her chore chart. Last week, she put Xs in all the boxes, but tonight she busted out with smiley faces! We thought it was pretty cute because we know that she is really proud of herself! And we're pretty stinkin' proud of her too! :)

365:Day 217 ~ My Talented Friend!

One of my bestest friends, Gina, is so crazy talented that I had to put two pictures today, rather than just one. There was just no way for me to choose a favorite cake pic because they were both SO FREAKIN' GOOD! Today, the girls and I headed to Grayson and Anna's birthday party {Bill had to work, unfortunately} for a little swimming, celebrating, and CAKE EATING, of course! Seriously...look.at.these.cakes. Oh, and did I mention that not only do her cakes look amazing, they taste amazing too!!!

Gina and I share the same need to make our kid's birthday cakes every year. Right when we met, we discovered that we both want our kids to remember that we made their birthday cakes for them. But wanna know what we don't share...um, cake decorating talent!!! :) Gina's cakes are always awesome and every year she seems to outdo herself {she's been known to throw down a 3D pirate ship cake}! The girl never ceases to amaze me! I always know who to call for cake decorating tips {well, baking/cooking tips of any kind to be honest}, and she's even come over and helped me with my kid’s cakes a time or two!

Nice work, my friend!!!! I might be enlisting your assistance in two weeks when it comes time to make Macy's bday cake! :)

365:Day 215 ~ "Good-bye, bye, bye, bye!"

Well after almost 3 years, today was Carly's last day of My Gym. So hard to believe! It has been a great ride for sure! I do think that it's time to move on to new things {dance}, but I can't help but be a little sad too! Carly started going to My Gym just after her first birthday and has loved every.single.second that she has spent up there! I'm so glad that she has had a weekly activity for the last several years that was her own...especially one that she has loved so much! :)

"Good-bye, bye, bye, bye!
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye!"

365:Day 214 ~ Our New Routine...

Our daily routine consists of homework now that we hit first grade! BUT, even with the additional homework, one thing has stayed the same...READING! This year, Macy is required to read 100 minutes a week...15-20 minutes per night. So, this is our favorite reader's new reading spot. Her comfy anywhere chair. I love listening to her read out loud! Today, she was even throwing in voices with inflection - and was cracking herself {and me} up! LOVE IT!

365:Day 213 ~ Little Mommy.

Um, apparently Carly’s baby doll got a little hungry while we were running errands before lunch. So, being the attentive little mommy that she is, Carly decided to give her baby a raisin. Right in her mouth. Wedged on in there. Stuck.

Such a sweet 3.5 year old mommy.

{Wonder if I can get that raisin out with some tweezers? :)}
