365:Day 212 ~ Look Who POPPED Into the 3s Class!

Bixie Loo Hoo!!!
Carly Anne's first day of school was today ... goodbye 2s class ... HELLO 3s CLASS! She's in the big leagues now! One of the first differences between the 2s and 3s is that when the kiddos get to school, they have to find their name and hang it up on the wall to show that they came to school! Carly found hers right away ... and how cute is the popcorn idea?!?! So creative! Carly was very excited to pop on into school this morning! :)

365:Day 211 ~ Carly's Snack ... check!

Carly starts school tomorrow and her dairy free snack box is all ready to go! It is such a relief to know that she has one of the same teachers again this year! I'm not AT ALL worried about her being exposed to dairy ... this time last year, I was a wreck! Carly is in good hands! :)

365:Day 210 ~ Swim at Your Own Risk...

...that's just what we did today! We hung out at our neighborhood pool for a couple hours! AND, we had the whole pool to ourselves! Not another sole was there! We had a great time! No risk, no reward - right?!?!

365:Day 209 ~ Meet the Teacher...round two.

Carly was VERY excited to meet her new teachers today! And she was almost as excited to find out that she has a big girl folder for important papers that she has to keep in her backpack ... just like her sissy. But even more than that, our Bixie is CRAZY excited that school starts on Monday ... just like her sissy!

365:Day 208 ~ The Cutest Little Cheerleader I Know!

I think that you’ll probably agree.

Isn’t she…the cutest little cheerleader you know?

I sure think so. When Carly wasn’t cheering her sister on at tennis this afternoon, she was busy being a ball collector. She’d throw them as far as she could {on the sidelines of course}, and then run her cute toddler run and get them, and bring them back.

Pure cuteness, that one. I could just gobble her up!

365:Day 207 ~ Already Livin' Up to His Name!

Wellllllll.......our newest member of the family, William Hall Leonard, was born yesterday at 3:33pm. He weighed 8lbs, 2oz and was 20¾ inches long! And he has a mane of dark hair just like his big sissies!!!

We got to go and meet the little man after dinner tonight and let me just tell you, he is already livin' up to Julia's nickname for him ... he is YUM-YUM! The girls were instantly IN LOVE, took turns holding him and cooing at him! What a precious little bundle he is! I can't wait to get my hands on him again ... SOON!!!

365:Day 206 ~ Are You Surprised That...

...this is the new dance bag that Macy picked out this afternoon?
I didn't think so.

Sassy, fun, pink, girly animal print is just, well, so her.

365:Day 205 ~ A Big Fat Welcome to...

365:Day 204 ~ Pop It, Lock It, POLKA DOT IT!

All you Hannah Montana lovers are absolutely correct ... those are some of the lyrics from Hoedown Throwdown! The girls have been singing it non-stop since Dance Camp a few weeks ago! And, well...it seems like a pretty appropriate title for this post! :)

We got Carly some new cutie patootie sheets today. And I decided as a fun "first day of school tomorrow" goodie that I would polish the girls toe nails pink ... with a fun little twist, POLKA DOTS! They were screaming with joy when I told them the surprise!

And, I have to say, I was pretty proud of myself for coming up with the idea of taking a picture of their polka dot toes on the new polka dot sheets!

365:Day 203 ~ Tax Free Shopping Bargain of the Day!

$1 socks at Old Navy! All of them ... even the 3 packs. I so love a bargain!
Aren't these socks sassy and cute and perfect for a big first grader?!?!

365:Day 202 ~ Meet the Teacher...round one.

Well, we met Macy's teacher today. Her first grade teacher. 'Cause she starts first grade in 3 days. You know, since she's a first grader now.

first.

365:Day 201 ~ Sissy Story Time!

Our girls love – I mean LOVE – to listen to books on cd together! Tonight they must have sat on that trampoline quietly listening to stories for close to an hour! And for some reason I just think it’s the cutest thing! :)

365:Day 200 ~ Why Didn't I Think of That?

As a parent, I am constantly wondering why I didn't come up with some totally great kid or parent friendly idea. Uncle JJ, Aunt Rebecca, and the girls gave Carly this cool star shaped bath crayon and foam coloring pages from Pottery Barn Kids for Christmas. I stuck them in a closet to save for a "rainy day" because the girls got quite a few bath toys for the holidays.

When I was cleaning out said closet yesterday, I happened upon this fun bath stuff and decided that it was in fact a "rainy day". And wow! Were they ever a hit! Bath time is always fun for my girls, but tonight it was extra fun! The coloring pages are darling and there was one for each of them! The only problem with this genius crayon that I wish I would have thought of...is that we didn't have TWO! Next time I'm at the mall, you can bet I will be swinging by PBK to grab another one!

365:Day 199 ~ My Pal, Craig.

I love Craig's List. I have had a pile of stuff in our "junk closet" for a long while now that I wanted to get put on Craig's List {including this unopened bedskirt}, and today I finally got a bunch of it listed! YES! And I even cleaned out the closet it was all stuffed in. I love being productive AND I love organizing!!! Now, let's just hope that I can actually sell some of it! :)

365:Day 198 ~ Feeling {Not So} Hot, Hot, Hot!

Well, technically Carly was feeling hot, hot, hot literally, until today. She busted out with a fever at 4:45 AM on Saturday morning and proceeded to run one on and off all weekend long {while we were in Houston...NICE}. She was fever free all day today, but I am pretty that she's still not feeling so hot, hot, hot because she has a virus.

A virus.

The last week of summer.
The week before school starts.
A crazy busy, full of plans week.
A virus in the SUMMER!
Don't the 100+ degree temperatures burn the germs off?
YUK!

365:Day 197 ~ You Are Looking at...

...the ONLY landmark between the Big D and H.Town!

Seriously. The drive between Dallas and Houston is nothing but trees, trees, and more trees. Nothing but trees for miles. Boooooring!!! However, around Huntsville there is this gigantor statue of Sam Houston. It is literally the only thing that Macy remembers about the drive to/from Houston and/or Galveston! I mean, it's the only thing to see, really, other than TREES!
I snapped this pic on our way home today while I was driving. I just held the camera up and clicked it, which is why poor Sam's head is cut off! Not too back considering I wasn't even looking!!! :) Here's to the only landmark between the Big D and H.Town!!!

365:Day 196 ~ Arggg, Mateys!!!

Per the rules of summer weather in Houston, it was a HOT day today! Paige found a blow-up kids pool at target in the shape of a pirate ship! Yep...The Scurvy Dog came complete with a mini slide, a steering wheel, AND a canon water sprayer! It kept the kiddos cool and they had a blast! ARGGGG, MATEYS!

365:Day 195 ~ j.rod

Today, we headed to Houston to visit The Rodriguez Crew! Paige and I threw this "end of the summer" trip together super spur-of-the-moment, which I love! We got to their house around lunch time and had a fantastic, fun-filled afternoon ... well, after Jagger and Carly took a nap, of course! :)

365:Day 194 ~ "Fome Macy"

My kids never cease to amaze me and today was one for the books. Macy has been having a bit of trouble cleaning up her room correctly. She has a habit of sticking stuff in whatever nook and cranny she can, rather than where the stuff belongs. Today, I walked around her room with her, pointing out all of the stuff that needed to be put away. But, when I can back to check {after she told me it was done}, all the stuff I pointed out was still in all the wrong places!!!

So, we had a second convo about it and I pulled the stuff that was out of place into the center of her room. You could barely see her floor there was so much stuff! I helped her get things under control and left her with just a few little things that belonged in her closet {Barbie shoes, Polly Pocket stuff, pieces of her vet kit, etc}. BUT she did it again. She just stuck all the little pieces in her closet and closed the door.

Well. I’m pretty sure that my head spun around and steam came out of my ears at that moment. Bill and I had a quick conference and decided that she needed a consequence. I mean, she had had several chances…it was getting ridiculous. Not to mention that today was not the first time we'd had this same issue.

The consequence was losing Sara – her American Girl and MOST prized possession. I told her that maybe she could have her back for our trip to Houston tomorrow {knowing that I would give it to her in the morning! :)}. Then we told her that for every time she didn’t clean up correctly, she would lose Sara for longer each time. Her eyes were wider than I think I’ve ever seen them!

Macy went to her room and held it together until Carly asked her what was wrong. Then she burst into tears and told her she was sad about Sara. I went in and gave her a hug and told her that I know it’s not easy being a kid sometimes. Then I reminded her that it’s our job to teach her the right things and it’s her job to follow our directions.

At that point, I pretty much thought we were done with this "clean-up event" for the day. I walked into my bedroom to start packing our suitcases and found this note and coins on my night stand. I immediately showed Bill. Here’s what happened when we went and asked Macy about it…

Daddy: “Macy...when did you do this?”
Goose: “Just a second ago.”
Mommy: “Why, honey?”
Goose: “Ummm…just because.”
Mommy: “Babe, why did you put this money on my nightstand?”
Goose: “Because…”
Mommy: “Because why?”
Goose: “Because I wanted to pay you.”
Mommy: “Why, baby?”
Goose: “Because I am really sorry that I didn’t pick up my room.”

Okay. How totally stinkin’ adorable, sweet, and endearing is that?!?! I, of course, thanked her, told her to go and put her money back in her piggy bank, and said that it would be a huge payment for her to just follow our directions!!!

I had a smile on my face and a tear in my eye at the same time! Even when this girl infuriates me, I just adore her to bits! :) Gotta love how that kiddo mind operates!

365:Day 193 ~ Apparently, I Can't Walk and Chew Gum at the Same Time!

And when I say “chew gum”, I mean text. And talk.

Yep. Tonight the girls and I had dinner with Farrah and we had just finished eating and were walking to our cars. I got a text from my friend, Gina, and Farrah was telling me a story. So I had my head down looking at my phone, looked up at Farrah, looked back and my phone, and proceeded to walk DIRECTLY into this tree. With my face.

Nice.
And graceful.
And it HURT!
I'm super cool like that.

If you click the picture open, you will see a little branch nub sticking out, which hit me right below my eye, and the big branch the nub is on cracked me on the side of the head. It was really awesome.

And the best part was that some random man was walking beside us and saw the whole thing. Awesome.

Maybe I should pay attention. And not text and talk and walk at the same time. Just sayin’.

What I wouldn't give to have legs this long and thin! :) Sigh.

365:Day 190 ~ Worn Out Girls!

We had a full and fun day of swimming today ... and no nap for one Carly Anne. Both girls are exhausted! When we got home from swimming, we popped the kiddos in the tub, had an early dinner, and turned on a movie for those tired monkeys - Barbie the Island Princess. Just look at those serious faces on those cute sisters cuddling under that yummy soft blanket. I don't think that there is anything more adorable!

365:Day 189 ~ Get Your GRILL On!!!

Grilled asparagus and burgers for dinner tonight!!!!!!! YUMMOOOO! My charming hubby outdid himself this evening! Dinner was DELISH!

But I have a question ... do any of you have other asparagus recipes! I'd love to try them, so pass them my way! :)

365:Day 188 ~ Suspicious Behavior!

So…ever since we got back from Gulf Shores, Bill and I have been playing gin a couple nights a week! We take turns being in the lead, but for the past week, I have been dominating.

Until tonight.

I was in the lead by almost 200 points. We played 5 hands while we watched Hells Kitchen tonight and would you like to know how many hands I won? ZERO! And Bill narrowly took the lead.

Suspicious? I THINK SO! Wonder if I need to start keeping score? Hmmm…

365:Day 187 ~ M.I.C.K.E.Y.

D.O.G.G.Y!!!!!

We had a tiny and unexpected visitor in our backyard tonight. Now, our backyard is not stranger to visitors ... squirrels, birds, and rabbits have been know to stop by. But this was a first. At around 7:30pm, the dogs started barking on and off, which is not unusual because they often bark at squirrels and rabbits, so I didn't think anything of it.

However, a few minutes before I was going to get the kids in bed, Carly shouted, "Mommy, Mommy...I see a baby puppy in our backyard!!!" Upon glancing out onto our patio I realized that she was indeed right. There was a random dog on our patio, although it wasn't actually a baby, just a small black Chihuahua. RANDOM! I have no idea how he got in. There are a few holes along our fence that the rabbits have dug and the dog was definitely small enough to fit through one, but still...pretty freakin' random!

I put the kiddos to bed and assured that that I would take care of the dog situation. Then, I got our dogs inside and I headed out to make friends with the little thing. It took about 10 minutes, but eventually he let me look at his collar. I discovered that his name was Mickey and called his owner, who as it turns out is our neighbor! DOUBLE RANDOM!!!

Had a little adventure tonight, we did. A strange and random and little bitty Chihuahua-sized adventure.

365:Day 186 ~ The Greatest Show on Earth!

So. We surprised the girls tonight. And boy was it ever fun ... clowntastic actually!

365:Day 185 ~ WHAT Happened?

It seems like just yesterday that these two BIG GIRLS were only BABIES! I snapped this picture at dance camp today {the director sweetly asked if they girls would like to do the Hannah Montana camp again and OF COURSE they did}. Anyway, I wanted to get a quick picture of the girls on our way out the door in their cute matching outfits {which was scarily completely UNplanned} and this is what I got…two way grown-up big girls. I personally just cannot believe my eyes…sigh.

365:Day 184 ~ Playing the Net!

This afternoon, Macy Gwynne had her first tennis lesson! Back in June, we signed our big girl up for private tennis lessons {and got her a pink tennis racket and pink tennis balls}. We have been trying ever since to get her first lesson scheduled, but between our two vacations and the instructor’s extremely full summer schedule, we didn’t make it happen until today! Macy has been dying to start, so she was thrilled when today finally arrived!

And I have to say, that our girl did GREAT! She picked up on what her instructor was saying really quickly AND had a totally fantastic time! When she didn't have on her serious tennis face, she had a smiled plastered on her cute little mug! I’m so proud of that sweet girl and can’t wait to see her in action next week for her second lesson!

365:Day 183 ~ Playroom Mayhem!

Today was a lazy day around the Leonard house! It was one of those days where we just sat back and let the kids get after it and make a total mess! In their defense, the playroom was already a bit messy from the party last night, but they definitely had no problem adding to the mayhem over the course of the day! WOW!

Since it was bath night and the girls were up way, WAY past their bedtime last night, they got out of cleaning it up tonight {which doesn’t bother me too much since the mess was confined to the playroom}. You know … sometimes it’s nice just to let ‘em go wild. They had a blast – as you can see from the giant MOUND of dress-up clothes – and the girls will clean it up tomorrow. Well, probably right after they add to the mess a little bit! :)

It was a lazing-around, mess-making, game-playing, nap-taking {for all 4 of us}, fun, fun day. Ahhh…
